Pilsner is the world's most popular beer style, known for its pale color, fresh flavor, and distinct hopping. Its roots date back to 19th-century Bohemia, now the Czech Republic, where it was developed in response to the dark and cloudy beers of the time. Pilsner history Pilsner originated in 1842 in the city of Plzeň, when Bavarian brewmaster Josef Groll brewed the first pale lager.
